| Description | This is my first attempt at growing marijuana. I started with about 35 seeds (from locally purchased weed), 30 of which sprouted leaves. The seeds were each originally planted in small cups with potting soil and grown under 2X40W cool white and 1x30w warm white floros. After a week or so, I moved them all over to rockwool and to the new 400w HPS. Moving the delicate seeds to a new medium was a stupid mistake and I lost half my seeds because of it.
The plants I have left are growing strong in my closet grow room. I bought mylar and 400w HPS lamp online. The materials for the resevoir, grow trays, and rest of hydro setup were purchased at a local hardware store. Its a drip watering system that I built by looking at other systems online and visiting a hydroponics store in town.
I proabably spent somewhere around $250-$300 to get this set up going.
If you want something similar, try to spend the bulk of your money on a solid lamp (reflector, ballast, bulbs, etc). The majority of other "required" materials are easily duplicated via cheaper methods.
Every garden is different. Understand that its not hard to grow weed and there are myriad ways to go about having a successful grow experience.
PS Im also experimenting with other herbs. I just laid down some khat. I know little about the tree but I hope to learn as I go. used miracle grow orgainc potting soil with some rooting stimulator. would have worked well but I am an asshole and wanted to switch to rockwool. I experimented with rockwool and perlite. Perlite is a mess and rockwool is pretty easy to maintain. I want to try hydroton next. |
