DescriptionWhat's up all... so this is my second 'real' attempt at a grow, the first ended rather abruptly (unsuccessfully as it were... :( ) Sad story but I won't go into it here, I just chalk it up to good experience and keep on truckin'. Anyway, I'm not sure of the strain here, just got lucky and came across a bag of popcorn nugs (chronic buds tho), one of 'em just happened to be ripe with seeds (12 to be exact). Is that weird to consider yourself lucky for getting a seeded bag of chronic? lol The seeds were just recently planted (8/21/07), I didn't bother germinating tho I probably should have (no doubt I would've had a higher success rate... ah well), out of 12, 6 have sprouted. The first two babies are only about 1-1.5" and *just* starting their second leaf set, the other 4 are just above ground (maybe .5" tops), 2 are kinda retarded looking tho (primary/'baby' leaves are deformed, one even has THREE which is weird)... needless to say, I'm only counting on 4 surviving plants here so far, of those I'm hoping for at least 2 fems (and hopefully one *good* one at that). Right now the babies are sitting in a cloning tray to control humidity (just removed the top today), directly underneath fluoros - Four 18" grow bulbs, I believe they're 17w (equiv. 75w), not sure of the lumen output but they're working nicely so far. The babies were sprouted in 1" rockwool cubes, soon to be transplanted to 4" cubes which will then be moved into 6"-8" pots (still working on the 'space budgeting') with hydrocorn, or whatever else is readily available from my local shop. My hydro system is also still under construction, tho nearly complete (just finishing up some last minute touches and then I'll test run it for a couple days before moving plants into it.) I'm going with an ebb & flow, mostly for its simplicity, ease of use/low maintenance, effectiveness and portability. 95% of the parts were purchased from Wal-Mart, the other 5% at the local Ace (total for everything - approx. $75-$85 brand-new including pumps/plumbing). It basically consists of a 25-gal plastic storage tub (solid black to negate light penetration), drilled with one main feed/return line as well as 2 overflow lines. This will feed to a 1.5'x3' plastic tray (small I know, but my grow space is only a little larger than this). The hydro system will sit directly underneath a vented-hood, enclosed-ballast 400w HPS (still needs to be vented properly before use in this space, even tho there's no door on the closet it still gets warm in there...) As for nutrients, they're getting a fairly well-rounded diet (and seem to be loving it so far, I can almost watch them grow under the fluoros). I start off with the basics, General Hydroponics brand Grow/Micro/Bloom, Liquid Karma catalyst (all kindsa good stuff in there), and FoxFarms Big Bloom mix (bat/seabird guano, earthworm castings & sea kelp) to top it off. For clones/seedlings I subtract the catalyst/BB and go with Clonex brand cloning solution, some added B1/starter solution and Rootech cloning gel. So back to the here and now... babies are still soaking up the fluoros for at least the next week, I'm thinking I'll wait until they get 3-4 good leaf sets and then I'll move them into the hydro system to veg under the HPS for a month or so (I'm on some serious time constraints and need to get a good 'rotating' crop going, if at all possible, by the end of December). Beyond this point, I'm not 100% sure... I may move some back to the fluoros to veg more while I start flowering the first 1-2, or I might just take a chance at taking clones and putting them *all* into flowering, but I've learned at this point NOT to put all yer eggs in one basket (or all your seedlings in one crop... eh whatever :P) I'll try and keep this thing updated throughout, please keep checking back for new info, pix, and probably a few public pleads for help... lol Thanks for checking this out, peace!

Tired of coughing up phlegm?? Here at GrowKind we switched from smoking to vaporizing 10 years ago, and our lungs have never felt better. In that time we have tried every vaporizer you can think of including domes, digital vaporizers, light bulbs, heat guns, and the volcano. Some work better than others but after all that time we still go back every day to our vape pens. Do yourself and your lungs a favor and head over to Vaporwarehouse. Don't Smoke! -- Vaporize!

The 'Retards' Both had some trouble sprouting, primary/'baby' leaves are deformed and there actually appear to be three (instead of two). We'll see what happens, but I'm thinking Darwin has already spoken... 08/31/07
