Phototron pruning

I bought a Phototron recently, and so far, I must say it's doing everything as promised. I planted the seedlings about 10 days ago, great growth, but I'm confused about pruning. I got the pruning of the leaves part down, but the pruning of the lateral shoots, secondary lateral shoots, every other node, etc. throws me...Anyone who can put this in lay terms for me, I'd appreciate.
